A cigarette started a fire that caused damage to the outside of an apartment building in Pierre over the weekend.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department ladder truck captain Doug Gordon says the Saturday afternoon fire was on North Spruce.
Gordon says there was little—if any– damage inside the apartment.
In a separate incident, the Pierre Volunteer Fire Department was called to Griffin Park about 9 o’clock last night (Sun.). Chief Ian Paul said some charcoal briquettes had fallen out of one of the permanent grills available for use at the park. He says the charcoal ignited some twigs and grass, but was quickly put out.
