A Pierre woman and man were arrested on several charges yesterday (Mon.) evening after a strong-armed robbery was reported to have taken place in a city park.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says officers were called to Griffin Park shortly after 6pm because an assault was taking place. Upon arrival, the victim told officers she’d been accosted by a female and male. She called 911 for assistance, at which time the female grabbed the phone from her, threw it to the ground and then stole the victim’s wallet.
Officers located 28-year-old Teri Hairybird and 28-year-old Patrick Lebeau in the tent camping area of the park. Hairybird had the stolen wallet in her possession. Both were taken into custody.
Hairybird was charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, Petty Theft, Intentional Damage to Property and Interference with Emergency Communication. Lebeau was charged with Simple Assault Intimidation and Disorderly Conduct. In addition to the current charges, Lebeau is also being held on a Department of Corrections detainer.
Both Hairybird and Lebeau were taken to the Hughes County Jail.
