A 25-year-old man from Pierre convicted of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender was sentenced this month in federal court.
Kape Teal Burgee must serve 21 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release. A federal jury found Burgee guilty in July.
Burgee is required to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, but failed to update his registration from September 2016 through October of 2018.
Burgee was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
