A 63 year old woman from Reliance, South Dakota, died Thursday (July 9, 2026, at 6:47pm) in a two-vehicle crash near Lyman, South Dakota.
Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the woman was driving a 1998 Suzuki mini truck southbound on 324th Avenue. At the same time, a 57 year old man from Reliance was driving a 2006 Freightliner semi-truck westbound on S.D. Highway 248. The Suzuki entered the intersection without stopping and collided with the Freightliner. The woman was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. The man was taken to a Chamberlain hospital with minor injuries. Neither person was wearing a seat belt.
The investigation is ongoing.
