From iconic landmarks to hidden gems off the beaten path, electric cooperatives are inviting travelers to explore western and central South Dakota through the new “This is Co-op Country” road trip map.
The map was created to encourage travelers to venture beyond traditional tourist stops and explore the rural communities, history, and landscapes that help make co-op country unique.
Matt Brunner with Rushmore Electric Cooperative said electric co-ops have always been deeply connected to the communities they serve. He said the “This is Co-op Country” road trip map is about about highlighting the people, businesses, history, and experiences that make rural South Dakota special and encouraging travelers to explore places they may not have discovered otherwise.”
The project map features destinations across participating co-op territories, including outdoor recreation, cultural sites, locally owned businesses, as well as well-known South Dakota stops like Badlands National Park, Wind Cave and Wall Drug.
