An event to show area high school students career opportunities available in construction is being held next week (Oct. 17) in Pierre.
Heath Schnee with the Oahe Home Builders Association says they work with the state Association of General Contractors group to host the Construction Career Camp.
Schnee says many of the students attending have never worked with construction tools.
October is “Careers in Construction Month” across South Dakota.

- Rapid City at Western Dakota Tech on Thursday, Oct. 10
- Pierre at T.F. Riggs High School on Wednesday, Oct. 17
- Spring of 2020 in Aberdeen
- Last week (Oct. 2) in Sioux Falls
The AGC of South Dakota is a voluntary trade association of more than 500 contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and service firms.
Mayor Steve Harding signed a proclamation making October “Careers in Construction Month” in Pierre.
