Pierre State AA Track & Field weekend top finishes

The Pierre track and field team participated in and thrived at the State AA Track & Field Meet in Sioux Falls over the weekend. The Governors competed throughout the three-day meet achieving personal bests in most events, many top 8 place winners, a new school record, and a state champion. The boys finished in 7^th place scoring 45.5 points, just 5.5 points out of a podium spot. The girls finished in 9^th place scoring 35 points and only 0.66 behind 8^th place O’Gorman. The following are the Pierre placers:

Boys

Long Jump- Corde Austin – 1^st (22’07”)

Medley relay – Jerren Deal, George Rapp, Carter Schiefelbein, and Caleb Morris – 2^nd (3:29.92)

4 x 100 m relay – Jerren Deal, George Rapp, Porter Hunsley, and Karson Walti – 3^rd (42.53) AND NEW SCHOOL RECORD

4 x 200 m relay – Karson Walti, Jerren Deal, George Rapp, Carter Schiefelbein – 3^rd (1:28.75)

110 m hurdles – Lincoln Dilges – 4^th (14.63)

400 m dash – Carter Schiefelbein – 5^th (49.83)

Discus – Cactus Korkow – 6^th (152’06”)

Triple Jump – Corde Austin – 6^th (43’06.75”)

High Jump – Corde Austin – 8^th (6’02”)

Additionally, Corde Austin was named the Field Event Most Valuable Athlete of the State Meet
