The Pierre City Commission has given preliminary approval for the purchase of a boat for Tri County Rescue.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ian Paul said this boat has some capabilities that their current boat does not.
Paul said the timing for this purchase worked out well.
City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga and Paul explained the Tri County Rescue arrangement.
Paul said Tri County Rescue dollars will be used to upgrade a few things on the boat.
Paul said the 2005 boat still has some useful life.
Final approval to purchase the boat will be given at an upcoming Pierre City Commission meeting.
