Pierre Post 8 Legion is still in search of their first win after dropping both games of their doubleheader against the Bandits on the road.
The game looked promising off the jump for Post 8 Legion after scoring two runs of an error to take an early first inning lead. However, in the bottom of the second inning Post 74 Bandits turned things around scoring five runs on just three hits to take a 5-2 lead. Post 8 Legion would allow damage on an error to help the Bandits capitalize on the big inning.
Talon Hyde earned the win for the Bandits giving up just three hits and three runs, although none of the runs were earned in the 11-3 victory. He struck out one and walked just two.
Pierre’s Carter Templeton would take the loss, giving up six hits and eight runs. Bridger Babcock finished his day at the plate with two runs driven in while Sutton Sonnenschein went 2-3 for Legion.
In game two, Post 8 Legion would fall 7-3 after finding the scoreboard first in the second straight game. Sonnenschein rattled a double that would drive in an early run, but the Bandits bats were still hot. A Jase Bauer triple put the Bandits in front leading 2-1 in the first. Then a second inning Nolan Krogman single drove in a run to make it 3-1. The Bandits winning pitcher was Noah Lease who gave up one hit and one run while Pierre’s Hudson Stoesser was credited with the loss. Ryder Erickson had a good day at the plate as did the Legion defense, Erickson going 2-4 and Pierre with a zero in the error column.
Pierre will be on the road for their next day of games on Tuesday taking on Sioux Falls West at 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
