Today’s (Aug. 5) update from the South Dakota Department of Health shows 89 new cases of COVID-19 in the state since yesterday.
There are:
- currently active cases– 951
- currently hospitalized– 43
- recovered– 8080
- total cases– 9168
- total persons tested– 116,374
- total persons negative– 107,206
- total tests– 145,555
- ever hospitalized– 856
- deaths– 137
Additionally, the Department of Health asks people to answer the phone when they call because of contact tracing. A department spokesman says most caller IDs will display as “South Dakota Department of Health” or “SDDOH.” If a person doesn’t answer, a message is left for the person to call DOH back.
