The National Weather Service is changing how they issue “Red Flag Warnings” for extreme fire danger.
Fire Weather Program Manager for the National Weather Service in Aberdeen, Travis Tarver says they’ll now use county lines instead of the zone system they have used in the past.
Tarver says zones, rather than counties, work better for some areas of country.
Traver hopes the change will reduce confusion.
The fire zone change takes effect October 29.
