Today’s (Oct. 21, 2020) update from the South Dakota Department of Health showed 558 new confirmed cases and 24 new probable cases of COVID-19 in the state since yesterday.
Coronavirus patients currently occupy 12.4% of the staffed hospital beds in the state. Other patients are using 50.8% of the staffed beds leaving 36.8% available. Of the staffed intensive care unit beds in the state, COVID-19 patients are using 22.9%, other patients occupy 44.4% and 32.7% are available to be used.
In South Dakota there are:

- 8688 currently active cases
- 332 currently hospitalized
- 333 total deaths
