Today’s (Nov. 4, 2020) update from the South Dakota Department of Health showed 795 new confirmed cases and 142 new probable cases of COVID-19 in the state since yesterday.
In South Dakota:
- 13,908 currently active cases
- 483 currently hospitalized
- 47,653 total confirmed cases
- 2138 total probable cases
- 35,423 recovered cases
- 460 total deaths
Coronavirus patients currently occupy 17.1% of the staffed hospital beds in the state. Other patients are using 51.3% of the staffed beds leaving 30% available. Of the staffed intensive care unit beds in the state, COVID-19 patients are using 30.7%, other patients occupy 32.8% and 36.5% are available to be used.

A confirmed case of COVID-19 is defined as persons with a positive RT-PCR test. A probable case is defined as persons with a positive antigen test for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
