RAPID CITY – For the second straight season, Pierre Governor Volleyball has begun the season 3-0, including a road sweep of the Rapid City public school programs.
On Friday, Pierre won in five sets over Stevens at Carrold Heier Gymnasium, losing a two-set lead before winning the fifth. The Governors won 25-17, 25-14, 17-25, 26-28, 15-4.
Pierre completed the sweep Saturday with a three-set win over Rapid City Central, 25-17, 25-20, 25-13 at Howard Naasz Gymnasium. Ayvrie Kaiser scored 14 kills to lead Pierre, with an ace and a scoring block. Reese Terwilliger had seven kills, two aces and four scoring blocks. Remington Price and MaKenna Schlekeway had four kills each.
Pierre will play its home opener against Aberdeen Central Saturday, September 4 at the Riggs High Gym. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on River 92.7, with live and archived video and audio coverage at the River 92.7 page at the DRG News app and at drgnews.com.
