Expanded parking being added at Minneconjou Lakeside Use Area; Users should expect delays

Work has begun to expand the parking area at the Minneconjou Lakeside Use Area, which is 40 miles northwest of Pierre/Fort Pierre on Highway 1806.

The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks says the area will remain open for use as long as it can be allowed safely. GFP says visitors might be delayed behind construction equipment going to and from the area. People need to park away from the work areas and demonstrate patience. The anticipated completion date for the project is December 10, 2021.

Progress on the project will be posted on the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area Facebook page.
