SIOUX FALLS – Pierre played well, but not quite well enough Thursday, and Governor Volleyball suffered its first match loss of the season after winning their first seven, falling in three sets to Washington, 25-16, 26-24, 25-17.
Pierre had a 20-12 lead in the second set in trying to even the match, but Washington rallied. Still, the Governors had three set points, leading 24-21, but the Warriors scored the last five points to take the second set.
Joslyn Richardson led Washington with 13 kills and three aces. Ellie Walker had 10 kills and three aces with a very difficult and very high jump serve. Washington had 40 kills to the Governors’ 20. Ayvrie Kaiser led Pierre (7-1) with seven kills and two blocks, Reese Terwilliger had five kills and two aces and Remington Price added four kills and two aces. MaKenna Schlekeway also had two blocks.
