Governors Win In Kusler’s Debut

RAPID CITY – Brianna Kusler made history first when her Pierre Governor boys took the floor in basketball Friday. Then, her team made more for her.

Under Kusler, the first female head coach of a South Dakota AA boys team, Pierre routed Rapid City Stevens 68-38 at Carrold Heier Gymnasium.

An 18-2 lead after one quarter propelled the Governors to the win, the first for Pierre in a season-opener in three years. Lincoln Kienholz scored 17, with Jackson Edman adding 15 points and Matthew Hanson contributing 13.
