ABERDEEN – Ellwyn Langdeau scored seven of his 21 points in overtime periods and blocked the last shot of the game Friday as Lower Brule advanced to its first state championship game with an 86-83 win in three overtimes over White River in a semifinal game of the SDHSAA Boys Class B State Tournament at the Barnett Center.
Langdeau scored 21 for Lower Brule (22-3) and blocked Dylan Marshall’s tying three-point attempt at the end of the third overtime. Langdeau was 8-of-13 shooting and had 11 rebounds. Brian LaRoche scored 20. Gavin Thigh had 19 points and five three-pointers.
Joe Sayler led White River (20-3) with 23 points, but he fouled out in the fourth quarter. Gavin Folkers hit six three-pointers and scored 22 before fouling out. Dylan Marshall had 21 points and nine assists.
White River trailed by five points midway through the fourth quarter before LaRoche scored a tying shot at the end of regulation.
Lower Brule led again by five points in overtime, but White River rallied again, with Folkers sinking a tying three with 11 seconds left.
White River led 77-74 in the second overtime before Thigh tied the game with five seconds left on another three.
Quentin McBride Jr. hit two free throws with 1:09 left in the third overtime to give Lower Brule the lead to stay. Langdeau and Thigh later hit two free throws each.
