Public transportation companies across the country are quickly eliminating mask requirements for passengers after yesterday’s (April 18, 2022) ruling by a federal judge in Florida that voided the national mandate covering airplanes and other public transportation as exceeding the authority of US health officials.
Jon Coleman is the Director of Business Development for Denver Air Connection– the company that provides commercial air service to the Pierre Regional Airport. He says they’re among the companies no longer requiring masks.
But, Coleman says, it’s a good idea to have a mask with you while traveling.
On a related note, Coleman says they’re having to deal with the increasing cost of fuel, but so far passenger numbers for Denver Air at both the Pierre and Watertown regional airports have remained strong.
DAC currently provides 12 flights per week between Pierre and the Denver International Airport, with there being two flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Denver Air Connection’s Essential Air Service contracts for the Pierre and Watertown regional airports goes through May 2023.
