PIERRE – Beginning a week set to feature nine games in six days, Pierre Governor Baseball split a doubleheader with Harrisburg Monday at Hyde Stadium. After Harrisburg won the opener 1-0 in nine innings, Pierre scored seven runs in the fifth inning before holding on to win the nightcap 11-10.
Lincoln Kienholz was spectacular on the mound for Pierre in the first game, pitching a two-hitter and striking out 16. But Harrisburg’s second hit was the difference in the game. Tyman Long homered in the top of the ninth. Jayden Wiebe had three hits for the Governors.
Spencer Letellier hit a three-run double to break a 6-6 tie in the big rally in the second game. Gary Nedved and George Stalley also had RBI doubles for Pierre (6-7). Grayson Hunsley drove in two runs. Pierre took an 11-6 lead going into the seventh inning before Harrisburg scored four runs.
