The American flag at Hyde Stadium in Pierre recently got a boost from two local service groups.
Jim Goodman, American Legion member, says as the home to Post 8 baseball, the Legion obviously has a vested interest in keeping Hyde Stadium in tip-top shape. He says pairing a stadium investment with a patriotic one was an obvious move for the local veteran groups.
The new pole was installed earlier this month by the City of Pierre. It is located near the scoreboard, and it is lit.
Hyde Stadium is owned and operated by the City of Pierre. It is home to Post 8 American Legion baseball and the Pierre Trappers.
Hyde Stadium features a modern concession stand and restrooms, stadium seating for 1,200, a crow’s nest with meeting rooms and a broadcast booth. Hyde Stadium was built in 1935 through a partnership between the Chas L. Hyde Family, in cooperation with the Federal Emergency Relief Administration and the Pierre City Commission.
