Over 200 bicyclists and support crew from 23 states and Canada will participate in the 9th annual Ride Across South Dakota– RASDak– bike tour starting Sunday (June 5, 2022) in Hill City.
This year’s week long, 470 mile “Explore 44” route will showcase South Dakota State Highway 44. Riders will make stops in Rapid City, Wall, Kadoka, Murdo, Winner, Armour and will finish June 11 in Freeman.
Motorists are asked to use special care in approaching touring cyclists, as South Dakota law requires motorists to provide a 3 foot separation between the vehicle and the bicyclist when the speed limit is 35 mph or less and a 6 foot separation when the speed limit is greater than 35 mph.
RASDak is supported 100% by volunteers and sponsors and has donated over $50,000 to directly support the South Dakota communities and groups that help make RASDak possible. This year RASDak has donated six Saris bike work stands and outdoor bike pumps to be installed on the Mickelson Trail. As an additional thank you, the tour awards a $500 scholarship to a high school senior from each of the overnight stops along the way.

Sponsors for RASDak include AARP South Dakota, Team BEEF South Dakota, Spoke-n-Sport and Sioux Falls Bicycle Company.
