Rawlins Municipal Library is offering its cardholders unlimited access to software that provides guidance for things such as making crafts and cooking.
Creativebug is a web-based software that provides step-by-step instructions to more than 1,000 cooking and crafting activities. Each instructional video is on demand and led by professional designers, artists, or dessert makers.
Abby Edwardson, Library Director, says each activity lays out the materials you’ll need, as well as the time commitment required before you even start the video. She says you can also sort the activities by skill level and type to help you know what you’re getting into before committing.
Programs include everything from ceramics, to knitting, to drawing, to book making, to cake decorating. Additionally, there’s a daily practice section. It provides short exercises to help stretch creativity, find inspiration, and push through a creative block.
Library cardholders can access the instructional videos from Rawlins Library or from a device at home.
Edwardson says if people find a craft or hobby they really like, Rawlins is equipped to supplement the videos with books and other resources as well. She says this is a great opportunity for people to keep their minds and their hands active while doing something that interests them.
Those who live in Pierre and Fort Pierre receive complimentary library cards. Annual non-resident library cards are $35. Signing up for a card takes less than five minutes and provides cardholders with access to Creativebug, as well as approximately 159,000 books, ebooks, digital magazines and other materials for research and entertainment.
