JUNE 21, 2022, AFTERNOON:
Another strong storm system ripped through parts of central South Dakota yesterday evening (June 20, 2022).
Hughes and Stanley County Emergency Management Director Rob Fines says the winds picked up to the point where they set off the storm warning sirens.
In Pierre and Fort Pierre there are reports of tree branches of various sizes having been knocked down. At Griffin Park in Pierre, a picnic shelter was knocked down by falling branches.

Pierre city officials remind residents that they are responsible for disposing of tree branches from their private property. The city does not pick up debris that’s been hauled to the street or boulevard by property owners. If a tree or branch is blocking a street or pathway, however, the town can address it.
Also, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks says the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area at Pierre and Fort Pierre is closed today and tomorrow (June 21-22, 2022) to cleanup significant tree damage to the park.

JUNE 21, 2022, MORNING:
A strong storm system ripped through parts of central South Dakota yesterday evening (June 20, 2022).
Aberdeen National Weather Service Meteorologist Katherine King says so far this morning they’re collecting information.
At this point, King says they’re gathering information to determine whether the storm system was a tornado, straight line winds or had some of both.
