If you’ve noticed the lingering scent of smoke the past few weeks in Fort Pierre and Pierre, it’s coming from a smoldering pile of manure just outside of the Fort Pierre city limits.
The pile is located on the west side of Highway 1806 and Stanley County officials say they are aware of the situation. They say the county and the property owners are coordinating to get the hot spots extinguished.
The owner does have a permit to put the manure in that location.
