A 37 year old woman from McLaughlin convicted of Assaulting, Resisting, and Impeding a Federal Officer has been sentenced by a US District Court judge.
Theresa White Lightning, a/k/a, Theresa Red Fox, must spend eight months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on May 27, 2020, in McLaughlin in which White Lightning assaulted two Bureau of Indian Affairs police officers while they were performing a lawful arrest.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs – Office of Justice Services, Standing Rock Agency.
