The annual Trader Days activities kick off this afternoon (Aug. 12, 2022) and goes through Sunday afternoon at Fischers Lilly Park and downtown Deadwood Street in Fort Pierre.
Shane Kramme with the Fort Pierre Chamber of Commerce says the Street Masters Dam Run begins at 4pm CT, the beer tent, food trucks, dunk tank, bounce houses and vendor booths open at 5pm and tonight’s featured entertainment begins at 7pm.
Organizing committee member Callie Iverson says the parade with a kazoo band is at 11 o’clock Saturday morning.
Iverson and Kramme are excited to have turkey races again this year.
Iverson says Sunday will start off in a “unique” way.
There’s musical entertainment in Fischers Lilly Park all three days and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket so they can sit down and relax.
The Verendrye Museum’s Backyard BBQ Competition fundraiser is Saturday from 11:30am-1pm CT. A meal will be served starting at 1pm. The public can buy a ticket for $10. The Verendrye Museum Board supports five local historical sites– the Verendrye Museum, the Log Cabin Visitor Center, the Stanley County Jail, Sansarc Country School Museum and the Fort Pierre Depot.
