PLANNING & ZONING
Acting as the Planning and Zoning Board, the Walworth County Commissioners, at their meeting on Thursday, September 8th, denied a variance request from a Walworth County resident for the construction of grain bins that are not in compliance with the ordinance setbacks. The issue will be re-visited at a future meeting.
The commission also decided to put together a planning committee to look into the ordinance for Solar Energy Farms. Any county resident interested in serving on the committee can contact Commission Chairman Jim Houck.
HIGHWAY
The commission approved an automatic supplement to the Highway Department for $24000 that is due to the Rural Access Infrastructure Agreement Grant for a small structure inventory.
4-H YOUTH ADVISOR
4-H Youth Advisor Katie Gregg visited with the commission regarding recent activities and upcoming events in 4-H.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
An automatic supplement in the amount $10,228.50 from Ziebach County for the Emergency Management salary for the rest of the year was approved. The money will move from the General Fund to EM Salary Fund.
911 BOARD
The commission passed a motion to add five counties to the North Central 911 Board. Those counties are Potter, McPherson, Campbell, Sioux, and Harding.
AUDITOR
The commission gave the auditor permission to pay routine bills in order to avoid late fees.
A resolution will be put on the next agenda to be adopted for Operation Green Light for Veterans Day. Operation Green Light encourages the display of green lights in windows to show support for veterans.
The commission gave approval for the Chairman to sign a cyber security agreement with Connecting Point; an agreement for Marin Biel Insurance to become the new agent of record for health insurance, retroactive to August 24th; and the public health contract with Mobridge Regional Hospital for the community health nurse.
A motion passed to execute the Memorandum of Agreement for the South Dakota Opioid Settlement in order to accept the county’s allocation of the settlement.
The commission authorized the Auditor to advertise for a September 20th hearing on supplemental budget requests.
SHERIFF
Sheriff Josh Boll presented the commission with a list of surplus items for sale, and this was approved.
