Pierre School District employees will get pay raises for the 2023-24 school year.
Pierre School District business manager Darla Mayer says teachers (certified staff), classified staff and administrators will all receive a 7% raise. Coaches and advisors will get a 5.46% pay bump.
The school district’s contribution toward health insurance will increase by $35 per month per employee.
In addition, the negotiated agreement with certified staff included a one week increase in maternity leave, to a maximum of seven weeks. However, that is contingent on the employee having sufficient accumulated sick leave. The employee would need to reserve a minimum of five days of sick and/or personal leave that could be used throughout the school year for purposes other than maternity leave.
The pay increases were approved during a special school board meeting yesterday (April 26, 2023). The increases go into effect July 1, 2023.
