PIERRE – The offense arrived in the second game for the Oahe Zap, but it still wasn’t enough for the team’s first win.
The Nebraska Prospects scored 12 runs in the last two innings Wednesday, including four runs in a go-ahead rally in the top of the ninth, to defeat the Zap 15-12 at Hyde Stadium.
Oahe had a 5-3 lead before the Prospects’ eight-run eighth inning. The Zap answered with seven runs in the home eighth, with an RBI single by Carson Trumpold giving the Zap a 12-11 lead.
However, reliever Collin Quandee walked three batters with the bases loaded in the Prospects’ ninth. A wild pitch by Gage Huffman brought in the fourth run.
Trumpold had two hits and three RBI for the Zap (0-2). Kyle Memarian singled and drove in three runs. Jackson Mix drove in two runs.
Brandon Villabrille scored the first run in Zap franchise history on a second-inning error. Memarian’s two-run single followed for the first two RBI in team history.
