ABERDEEN – Post 8 continues to look for its first win in 2023 after two losses Sunday in Aberdeen to the Smittys, 17-3 and 10-9. Post 8 is now 0-6.
Game 1 – Aberdeen 17, Post 8 3
Lack of pitching control cost Post 8 again. Aberdeen won despite having only four hits, as the Smittys drew 13 walks. Jonny Lyons drove in a run for Post 8 with a sacrifice fly.
Game 2 – Aberdeen 10, Post 8 9
Drew Salfrank drove in the winning run with an RBI single on the game’s last play in the bottom of the seventh to give the Smittys the doubleheader sweep. Salfrank drove in three runs.
Post 8 scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-4 lead. After Aberdeen scored two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth before the Eights tied the game with three runs in the seventh. Lyons doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs. Ridge Leimbach also had three RBI and two hits.
