SIOUX FALLS – Despite having the lead again in one of the two games of a doubleheader, Post 8 remained winless Tuesday, dropping two games against Sioux Falls East, 5-4 and 11-2. The Eights are now 0-8 to begin the season.
Game 1 – Sioux Falls East 5, Post 8 4
Post 8 took the early lead with single runs in each of the first two innings. Matthew Hanson hit a first-inning sacrifice fly, then Jett Zabel stole home in the second.
Sioux Falls East then rallied with three runs in the fourth, a run in the fifth and another in the sixth. Post 8 made another charge in the seventh. With two out, Jonny Lyons singled in a run and an error scored another run to bring the Eights to within 5-4. Ridge Leimbach then struck out to end the game.
Game 2 – Sioux Falls East 11, Post 8 2
Lack of pitching control again caught up with Post 8 (0-8), who gave up 13 walks. Sioux Falls East won despite having only five hits. Hanson had an RBI double and Lyons had a sacrifice fly for Post 8’s two runs in the fifth inning.
