OACOMA – Chamberlain’s girls and the Philip boys were team winners Thursday in the Big Dakota Conference Cross Country met at Chamberlain Country Club.
The Chamberlain girls scored 12 points, 11 better than runner-up Potter County. Kimball/White Lake was third with 25 points. Kinsey Evans of Chamberlain was the girls’ individual winner in 19:49. The Cubs’ Kylah Biggins was fifth and Grace Phillips finished eighth. Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock was second, with Kimball/White Lake’s Autumn Baker running third and Lily Baker 10th. Two Potter County runners were in the top 10, with Dannika Kaup fourth and Jadyn Ahlemeier ninth.
Kaysen Magee was Stanley County’s top finisher at 18.
Miller runners took the top two individual spots in the boys’ race. Alex Schumaker ran in 16:40, seven seconds ahead of Pierce Baumberger. Philip’s top five runners were in the top 11, with Wakely Burns third, Asher Peterson fifth, Trey Larson eighth, Tukker Boe 10th and Baylor Burns 11th. The Scotties’ team total of 15 points was three points better than Winner. North Central’s Gabe Johnson ran 20th, with Spencer Sargent of Stanley County 23rd and Chamberlain’s Sam Byers 24th.
