South Dakota’s 2024 annual state park entrance licenses are now available for purchase.
The passes allow entrance into state parks and state recreation areas.
An annual park entrance license is $36. Purchasers of one license can also buy a second at half price. The license is required for entrance into designated state parks, recreation areas and lakeside use areas, although it does not cover camping costs or additional fees.
State parks director Jeff VanMeeteren says South Dakota state parks are not just for camping. He says they also offer a variety of outdoor activities and events such as hiking, biking, kayaking, disc golf, fishing, archery, birdwatching, outdoor education and family fun days.
The 2024 park entrance license is valid from Oct. 1, 2023, through May 17, 2025. Entrance licenses can be purchased:
