OACOMA – Chamberlain girls and Miller boys were the team winners at the Region 4A cross country meet Wednesday at Chamberlain Country Club, with other Central South Dakota teams and runners also qualifying for the state meet.
The Chamberlain girls scored 16 points to win the team title, five points better than Kimball/White Lake. Platte-Geddes also qualified for state by finishing third.
Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans won the individual title in 19:09.
Besides those three teams, other state qualifiers include Madeline Nye and Gabby Werdel of Miller, Heidi Olson and Faith Heil of Mobridge-Pollock and Melanie Dallenbach and Grace Roth of North Central.
The Miller boys placed three runners in the top six to win the team title by 18 points over North Central. McLaughlin was third.
Pierce Baumberger of Miller won the individual race in 16:44.
Also qualifying individually were Joseph Laprath of Winner, Park Sinclair of Kimball/White Lake, Sam Byers of Chamberlain, Carson Vanden Berg of Platte-Geddes, Spencer Sargent of Stanley County, Logan Vetch of Mobridge-Pollock and Justin St. John of Crow Creek.
