FAULKTON – Potter County had played two inspired games, with road wins, to make the 9B football semifinals. Then, it ended decisively for the Battlers on Friday.
Faulkton Area overwhelmed Potter County 42-0 to advance to a state championship game for the first time since 2014. The Trojans are searching for the school’s first football title.
Layne Cotton led the Trojans (10-1) with three touchdown runs and a touchdown pass to Charlie Deiter as Faulkton Area raced to a 36-0 halftime lead. Garrett Cramer and Landon Doyle also had scoring runs.
Landon Larson passed for 117 yards and Ryder Falkenhagen had six catches for 78 yards for Potter County (5-6).
