RAPID CITY – The return of Faulkton Area Volleyball to the state tournament was met by an aggressive attack by the Chester Flyers.
Chester had more than twice as many kills as their opponent Thursday in a sweep of Faulkton Area, 25-15, 25-10, 25-14 in the first round of the SDHSAA Class B State Volleyball Tournament at the Summit Arena at The Monument.
Chester (31-2) used a big attack from their main hitters, Emmerson Eppard, Lily VanHal and Jacy Wolf. Eppard and VanHal had 11 kills each, with Wolf scoring 10.
Addison Melius paced Faulkton Area (24-10) with eight kills and 11 digs. Carley Cotton scored six kills.
Chester tallied 44 kills to just 18 for Faulkton Area, had an advantage of four aces to none and an advantage of eight blocks to three.
