RAPID CITY – After a two-set lead, frustration followed for Faulkton Area Friday at state volleyball.
Colman-Egan rallied for a win over Faulkton Area 12-25, 18-25, 25-10, 25-23, 19-17 in the consolation round of the SDHSAA Class B State Volleyball Tournament at the Summit Arena at The Monument.
With strong attacking and good serving, Faulkton Area (24-11) captured the first two sets, but Colman-Egan’s defense picked up. The Eagles (29-6) totaled 126 digs and five blocks.
Faulkton Area had an excellent change to wrap up the match, leading 14-10 in the fifth set, but Colman-Egan then scored the next four points. The last draw was at 17-17, then Faulkton Area was called for a rotation violation to give Colman-Egan a match point. The Eagles’ Daniela Lee then won the match with a scoring block.
Brynlee Landis had 21 kills and 24 digs for Colman-Egan. Lee had 13 kills and 32 digs.
Addison Melius scored 22 kills and had 18 digs for Faulkton Area. Carley Cotton hit 21 kills.
