DENVER, Colo. – Kaleb Stewart dropped a career-high 44 points as South Dakota scored its most points in a game this season, but it wasn’t enough as the Coyotes fell to Denver 111-110 in double overtime on Thursday night (Jan. 25, 2024) in Denver. Stewart’s new career-high is the most points scored in a game by a Coyote since 1967 when Jack Theeler scored 49 against Northern Iowa and the fourth-most in program history. The nation’s leading scorer once again led Denver as Tommy Bruner dropped a game-high and career-high 49 points, the most points scored in a division one game this season. Bruner scored 38 of his points after the halftime break. South Dakota fell to 9-12 on the season and 2 and 4 in Summit League play with the loss. Denver improved to 4-2 in Summit League action and 13 and 8 overall.
VERMILLION, S.D.—Junior guard Kendall Holmes scored a season-best 22 points in leading South Dakota to a 78-70 win over Denver on Thursday night (Jan. 25, 2024) in Vermillion. Natalie Mazurek reached double-figures for the fourth time in the last five games finising with 16 points for the Coyotes. Denver was led by sophomore guard Jordan Jones’ double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. South Dakota improved to 14-7, overall and 3-3 in Summit League play and moves to 5-1 on the season in games decided by 10 points or less.
