The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Board of Economic Development approved three loans at this month’s meeting (March 13, 2024). The projects these loans support will bring a total of approximately $9.7 million in capital investment to South Dakota and 40 full-time jobs.
Southern Sun, LLC, of Huron is a value-added agriculture roasting plant specializing in handling and roasting of sunflower seeds. They were approved for a $1,675,730 Revolving Economic Development and Initiative (REDI) loan and a SD Works loan for $1,340,584. This funding will assist with equipment purchases and site improvements, allowing them to move their roasting capacity in-house to South Dakota. A projected 21 full-time jobs will be created due to this expansion.
Centerville Manufacturing LLC, of Centerville was approved for a $675,000 REDI loan. A full-service, close-tolerance contact machining shop, this funding will help with the construction of their building and the acquisition of equipment. A projected 14 jobs will be created from this new business.
“This funding will allow both the communities and the state of South Dakota to continue to grow,” said GOED Deputy Commissioner Chris Schilken. “We are pleased to be able to work with these entities.”
