Thanks to a local ranch couple, students in the Stanley County School District have been served meals made with locally raised beef.
The School District says the Beef to School program started with Luke and Sawyer Dowling and local meat processor Maier Meats. Now other local ranchers have also offered to participate. Food Service Manager Sheila Jones and staff turned some of the initial beef donation into items such as beef and cheddar sandwiches, beef stew or beef stroganoff. The local Beef to School program menus will expand into more selections as the program evolves and donations are received.
If interested in donating beef to the Stanley County School District, please call Maier Meats at 605-222-8804 to make the appointment to donate. If interested in contributing to the program financially to help supplement costs, please contact the Stanley County School Business Office at 605-223-7741.
