PIERRE – The Pierre USA Softball Association added two new members to its Hall of Fame on Saturday. A brief ceremony was held during the City Men’s Tournament as Sheri Lappe and Terry Keller were both inducted. Lappe has been a well-known presence in women’s softball not only in Pierre, but throughout South Dakota, during her 45-year career in the game. She served as a league officer for 20 years, a Commissioner at the State Association level for 31 years, and also umpired for 12 years. She has also coached for ten years and is the current manager of the concession stand at the Oahe Softball Complex. Keller has given 44 years of his time to the game as a softball umpire, not to mention as an official for other sports as well. In that time he has umpired over 5,500 softball games, including 61 State Tournaments and dozens of championship games. He also played softball in Pierre for 20 seasons. In addition to his softball presence, Keller has also officiated high school football for the past 32 years, volleyball for the past 28, plus a number of years as a basketball official and a Legion Baseball umpire. Plaques and full biographies of all Hall of Fame members can be viewed through the display case mounted on the north wall of the concession stand at the Oahe Softball Complex. Congratulations to both on such a high honor!
