The Board of Directors for Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre has reorganized for its new fiscal year, which began Monday (July 1, 2024).
Rob Wylie is the incoming board chair, Kristin Brost, the vice chair and Jeff Hallem joins the board as a new member. Leaving the board after nine years was outgoing Chair Mike Weisgram.
Regional President and CEO of Avera St. Mary’s Hospital Shantel Krebs says Avera truly benefits from experienced leaders such as these. She thanked each of them for their willingness to share their time and talents to benefit Avera staff, patients and their families.

Wylie is a retired Executive Director of the South Dakota Retirement System where he worked for 38 years. He served as vice chair last year and has been a board member since 2021. He has served on many boards including the State of South Dakota Investment Council, National Association of State Retirement Administration, The Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council, Delta Dental of South Dakota, and the South Dakota State University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Brost is the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for BankWest Inc. She has extensive local board experience as a Past President of multiple boards including Capital Area Counseling, Pierre/Ft. Pierre Rotary Club, and the South Dakota Discovery Center Board of Directors. She also served as Past Vice President for the YMCA and Finance Committee Chair for the Post 8 Baseball Board of Directors.
Jeff Hallem is the Assistant General Counsel for the South Dakota Investment Counsel and retired Assistant Attorney General with the South Dakota Office of Attorney General. Hallem has served on numerous boards including Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center, Pierre Housing Authority, Friends of Public Broadcasting, Pierre Ducks Unlimited, Pierre Elks Lodge, South Dakota Elks Association, and Pierre Players, Inc.
