The first ever Oahe Winter Festival in Pierre kicked off Friday night (Dec. 6, 2024) with the 24th annual Pierre Parade of Lights.

The theme for this year’s parade was the same as the theme for the Christmas at the Capitol display– “Through a Child’s Eyes.”
The 25th annual Pierre Parade of Lights will be held Dec. 5, 2025.
DECEMBER 6, 2024:
The first ever Oahe Winter Festival in Pierre kicks off tonight (Dec. 6, 2024) and continues with a variety of activities Saturday.
Dani Norden with the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) says the 24th annual Pierre Parade of Lights gets things started tonight.
The parade starts at 6pm CT in the T.F. Riggs High School parking lot and concludes at the American Legion Cabin.
Saturday, Norden says, lower Pierre Street is the place to be.

Parade entries can include floats, marching bands, dance groups, walkers, vehicles and animals. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Additional accolades include the Mayor’s Choice and Griswold awards.
The parade starts at 6pm CT in the T.F. Riggs High School parking lot and concludes at the American Legion Cabin. There is no participation fee; however, voluntary donations are welcomed to help offset the parade’s costs at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce.
