The Sanford Pentagon welcomed in some of the best high school programs from in and around South Dakota yesterday for the annual Heritage Classic. In the fourth game of the day, the Centerville Tornadoes took down a great Lady Tigers team with some lethal shooting from outside the arc. It was a back and forth first half, both teams swapping shares of the lead. The Lady Tigers got out to an early 7-point lead, but the Tornadoes would go on a 9-0 run to to get back in front. Centerville would push the lead even further in the second quarter, but a run by Mobridge to end the half tied things up at 26 a piece.
In the second half, freshman guard Izzie Eide for the Tornadoes flipped a switch and started raining threes from all over the floor. Eide went on a stretch where she hit four deep-balls in a row, and would finish with 23. The Tornadoes would also get a productive night out of Emma Marshall, who finished with 16. The Tornadoes were able to extend their lead in the third quarter and would not look back, going on to win 61-49 and remain undefeated.
For the Lady Tigers, Blake Thompson had a nice night offensively scoring 15-points, but the focus quickly shifted to senior forward Charley Henderson as she suffered a scary looking injury with under a minute left. Henderson attempted a three and came down on Marshall’s foot, rolling her ankle and needing assistance off the floor.
