The Trojans came into last nights game as the favorite over the Highmore-Harrold Pirates, and after a helter-skelter start they were able to settle in and control the game from the second quarter on. The Pirates defense was able to generate a few steals in the first quarter which turned to buckets, but a second quarter run by Parkston got them out to a double-digit lead that they never gave up. Berkley Ziebart got her outside shot going and ended up knocking down multiple three’s on her way to a game-high 19-points. Keeara Oakley also had a nice night for Parkston scoring 16, as the Trojans made their way to a 52-31 win and into State B.
Highmore-Harrold needs to get a round of applause, though. One of the youngest, if not the youngest team to make it this far into the season/postseason is impressive. Mike Ring, while upset about the loss, has to be thrilled about what his program holds for the years to come. With almost all of his team returning next season, including his entire starting-five, the Pirates will be a team to watch out for.
