South Dakota lawmakers face a budget-focused schedule Tuesday (March 11, 2025) in Pierre.
The Joint Appropriations Committee meets to set budgets for 18 state departments and agencies, consider the general appropriations bill, and consider school district property tax measures.
When senators gather at 2pm, they’ll consider two House-amended voting rights and protections bills. SB 68 would require U.S. citizenship for voting eligibility, while SB 73 addresses voter registration requirements for driver license applicants. While not on the official calendar, the Senate may also consider House changes to the governor’s property tax relief bill that caps assessment increases at 3%.
The main run of the legislative session concludes Thursday. Veto Day is March 31.
