One of Pierre’s top athletes, Kali Ringstmeyer earned a very prestigious honor this week, one that not many can boast. Ringstmeyer was selected to run in in this year’s Howard Wood Special Event relays, and will be competing in the 200-meter dash. This event is one you must be nominated for and carries a particular type of responsibility. Each year at the Howard Wood relays, one specific event is chosen as the “Special Event” to showcase the top talent in high school track, that event is this years 200-meter dash. Ringstmeyer is one of only four South Dakota girls to be selected to run in this event, and one of nine total athletes to be selected. To be nominated to compete in this Special Event is a tremendous honor, and one that is earned through great performance. Ringstmeyer won the State Class AA title in the 200m as a sophomore two years ago, and she just clocked the fastest time of this season so far at the Legion Relays last week.
The event will be held this Friday, May 2nd at 6:55 in Sioux Falls at Howard Wood Field. For more meet information, you can click here.
