The Lady Tigers fell to the Gayville-Volin Raiders today in the state semifinals in Aberdeen. Much like yesterday, Tigers bats came out hot scoring four runs in the top half of the first inning. A couple of hard hit singles got Tigers on the bases, and hits from Jacy Netterville, Michelle Merkel, Elsy Larson along with Amber Vetch helped get Mobridge out to a 4-0 lead. But that would be the last runs scored by Mobridge for the game as the Raider’s Ayla Dimmer settled in inside the circle and shut the Tigers offense down for the day.
The Raiders would go on to score five runs in the third inning, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth to win 11-4. Gayville-Volin will play Deuel tomorrow for the State Championship while Mobridge-Pollock will take on Alcester-Hudson for 3rd place at 2:00 PM. Coverage for the 3rd place game will begin around 1:30 PM CT with Brian Oakland on Star 99 and will be streaming on www.DRGnews.com/Star/.
