Every golfer, no matter how good or bad, has often asked themselves the question, “How many holes could I play in one single day?” One of those golfers just so happened to be CEO of the Boys and Girls Club, Steve Steele. Steele saw a group attempt to play 100 holes in a day and thought to himself, “Oh I could beat that” and Stanley County Golf for Gold was born.
As the Sports Director for DRG Media Group, I get a lot of very unique opportunities to cover things like the SD High School Rodeo Finals, I get to call games for the Stanley County Buffaloes, I even have called a turtle race in Reliance. But when Steve called me and asked if I would be willing to (try) and play six rounds of golf in one single day, I knew I would be adding another interesting event to my weekly schedule.
Stanley County Gold program is managed by the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area, and Steele was looking for a way to raise money for the program that is in danger of losing funding. To raise money, there are multiple different ways to get involved in this exciting day! Refer to the flyer above for more information of how you can get involved.
